Lester Jones was released into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 27, 2013.
Lester was born on Jan. 5, 1958, to the late Harvey Lee Jones and Lizzie Mae Word Jones.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 3, at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia.
Services will be held today, Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at St. James Primitive Baptist Church in Coolidge. Eulogist will be Minister Gerald Henderson.
Burial will be in Brown-McGee Cemetery in Coolidge.
He graduated from Coolidge High School in Coolidge and also served in the U.S. Army.
Lester joined First Baptist Church of Coolidge at an early age. Later he married Joyce Marie Owens.
Lester worked as a carpenter, in construction and did other odd jobs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Marie Owens; one son; his grandparents Lee and Alma Jones; his father, Harvey L. Jones; two brothers, Arthur and Anthony Jones.
Those left to cherish him memory are his mother, Lizzie Mae Word Jones, of Coolidge; three sons, Reginald Busby (Paula), of Waco; Christopher Owens (Tamara), of Coolidge, Brandon Hawlett, of Coolidge; two granddaughters, Kristen Chambers Busby, of Wortham, and Zechariah Busby; one grandson: JaTaVious Mack, of Coolidge; one sister, Verna Jones Calhoun; seven brothers, Billy Jones, of Mart, Edward Jones (Wanda), of Coolidge, Eddie Jones (Barbara), of Mexia; Elgin Jones (Sherry), of Coolidge, Ezell Jones, of Coolidge, Ricky Jones, of Palestine, and Charles Jones, of Abilene; a cousin with whom he was raised, Harvey Dawkins (Bernice), of Coolidge; numerous nieces and nephews; seven brothers-in-law, James Calhoun Sr., Billy Joe Carr, Howard Owens, Charles Carr, Atrell Owens, Stanley Owens and James Carr; longtime friend Jimmy Ray Kirven; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were handled by Pearly Gates Funeral Home, of Mexia.
