Mexia residents who have a special car, truck, motorcycle to show off may want to begin washing and buffing because the Lions Club’s annual car show is coming up July 4.
The event, called the Red, White & Blue Car Show, will be held in downtown Mexia on Thursday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s just one of many exciting happenings on the Fourth of July, which Mexia celebrates in a big way each year – more on that in upcoming issues of The Mexia News.
Of course, observing and admiring the many entries is free and quite fun. Entering a vehicle in the show is quite modest, $25 the day or the show, or $20 for those who pre-register. The first hundred entries will receive free dash plaques and T-shirts as reward for entering early. Door prizes will be awarded among those who enter their vehicles and are at the show.
Also, those participating have the satisfaction of knowing that the proceeds from the day will benefit Lions Club projects: buying prescription glasses for local children, sponsoring T-Ball and the Boy Scouts, providing Lions Camp for children with disabilities.
