Margaret Beachum

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Beachum, of Mexia, will be held on Friday June 14, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Gideon P.B. Church in the Doyle community. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, from 10 a.m. till 7 p.m., at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia. Eulogist, Bishop Demetrius Beachum.

Margaret C. Beachum was born in Springfield, on May 2, 1939, to the late John Curry and Marzella Canada. Her journey ended on June 5, 2013, at Parkview Regional Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.

She was baptized at an early age at Cannon Baptist Church in Springfield. She went to school at Woodland High School in , and in Springfield, but received her GED from Navarro College.

She was united in marriage to Arthur Beachum Jr. on Feb. 14, 1957, and to this union two children were born.

She was employed at Mexia State School for over 20 years, and later retired. She loved antiquing and going shopping with her sisters and daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Curry and Marzella Canada, stepmom Florence Curry; four brothers, Emmanuel, Jimmy, Johnell and Dave; and one sister, Johnnie Ruth.

She leaves to cherish her memories most her husband, Arthur Beachum Jr.; daughter Pamela Crenshaw; son Gary Beachum; sisters Annie Petty, Evelyn Coleman, Dora Harper, Clarissa Jennings, Edna Keaton, Mary Hodge, Lynett West and Betty Forge; brothers Charles “Charlie Boy” Jones; grandkids Tephany, Brandon, Sherard and Kanesha; great-grandchildren Trey, Tye Quisha and Jalen; and a host of other relatives and friends.
