Jim Silvas Jr. passed the morning of June 12, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Falls County on Jan. 2, 1938.
Jim was a local businessman and owner of Silvas Painting Co. He also ran a small cabinet and furniture shop where he built new pieces, did restorations and during football season, cheered endlessly for his Dallas Cowboys.
He was married Nov. 8, 1958 to Maria Garza of Marlin, and the couple lived there until moving their family to Mexia in 1973.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife in 2003.
He is survived by three daughters, Linda and husband Ronnie Pointer of Mexia, Helen and husband Kevin Rogers of Wortham, and Melissa and husband Jose Candanoza of Mexia. He has nine grandchildren, as well as great- and great-great-grandchildren. Jim also has brothers, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Jim’s request there will be no public service. His immediate family will gather for a remembrance.
