The angelic hosts came for Sonny Eddington last Tuesday morning, June 25, 2013, in the Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, in Waco, among loving family and devoted friends.
Viewing will be held Friday, June 28, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, beginning at 10 a.m., and with the family present 6-7 p.m..
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, at 2 p.m. in the Haynes Temple Church Of God In Christ, Mexia, where Elder C.D. Washington is pastor. Officiating will be Elder Tas Betts and Elder Don Manning. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, in Mexia.
He was born in Limestone County, to Homer Eddington Jr. and Helen Ruth Simon Eddington, was a graduate of Mexia High School, a carpenter and served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Verna Lee Matthews, Helen Echols and Martha Jo Eddington Hardin; and brothers Ben J. Eddington and Edward Eddington. Survivors are his wife, Lorie Wiley, of Groesbeck; daughters Tawanna Johnson, of Carthage, Evelyn Eddington, of Williamsburg, N.Y., Priscilla Eddington, of Dallas, and Ashley Thornton, of Mexia; sons Robert Eddington Jr., of Dallas, Kevin Thornton, of Mexia, Deano Wiley, of Mexia, Anthony Wiley, of Groesbeck, and Quentin Wiley, of Groesbeck; sisters Johnny Washington and husband, Jerry, of Mexia, Pinkie Carroll, of Corsicana, Verta Eddington, of Chandler, and Edna Salas and husband, Jessie, of Haywood, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
