The high school-eligible Blackcat baseball team completed their 2013 season this past weekend, taking third out of 20 teams at the state summer baseball league tournament. The team, coached by Larry Adair and Richard Hileman did a fantastic job over the season, finishing 14-2.

Pool play began Friday in Hillsboro with the Blackcats drawing Dekalb for their first game. After a nail-biter, the team came up short, losing 7-5. After a couple of hours to regroup, the boys hit the field again against Neches, another exciting game that brought the boys their first tournament win, 7-3. Playing at 6 p.m. against Neches and 8 p.m. against Athens didn’t give the boys much time to breathe as they hit the field back to back. The Blackcats fought hard against Athens and won, 7-4.
