The experience and stout defense of the Wortham Lady Bulldogs was too much for the inexperienced Ladycats in the 2013 volleyball opener.

Mexia took the opening game 25-19, but dropped the next three (25-27, 9-25, 19-25).

Coach Sherri Cain said after the game that her Mexia squad had a steep learning curve with so little varsity experience on the roster.

“Tonight we learned how much work we really have to do,” Cain said. “This group is super young and they have to get experience. The only thing that will help that is to keep playing. They are learning so much, I think they are on sensory overload right now. They are having to learn the varsity pace while we are taking baby steps.”
