The numbers 25 and 23 must have been the magic key in Wortham’s junior varsity and varsity victories Friday night, Aug. 16 at home.

The Lady Bulldogs JV sweep the Mildred Lady Eagles by those numbers, 25-23, 25-23 and in the first set of the varsity game Wortham won it by the same score, 25-23. They also went on to sweep Mildred after winning the other two sets, 25-17 and 25-12.

The Lady Bulldogs got off to a slow start and it may have been due to feeling a little jittery as the Dawson Lady Bulldogs were in the stands scouting them out.

But that feeling quickly went away after the first set and the Wortham front line settled down and gave the fans plenty to cheer about, especially after Elisha Libhart put on a display of “kill” shots.
