Limestone County commissioners court declined to lift the burn ban that had been in effect since June 20 at their last meeting, Aug. 26, and also made decisions on a variety of other issues.

“We are still on average over the Drought Index for the county,” County Judge Daniel Burkeen noted, and no one disagreed.
Also at that meeting, the commissioners authorized the county auditor to publish the county officials’ salaries, which is required by law.

In another personnel-related matter, the court approved for the record the salaries set by the District Judge for the county auditor and staff and the 77th court reporter, all of which include a 3 percent raise.
