A first quarter fumble by the Mexia offense turned out to be the deciding factor in the Mexia Blackcats 19-16 loss to the Alvarado Indians in the Second Annual Dale Hansen Football Classic held at Stuart B. Lumpkin Stadium in Waxahachie this past Saturday, Sept. 7.

The Indians stalled in their first offensive drive of the game and when the Blackcats took over in good field position, Mexia seemed to be executing the first couple of plays in good shape to make their march down field.

But a mishandled handoff allowed the Indians Brazos Fuller to pick up the loose ball and trek 25-yards to score the first touchdown of the game, giving Alvarado a 7-0 lead after the extra point.
