Limestone County commissioners court continues to move toward a tax increase and an income raise for county employees, with so far no comment from voters, but also in the face of a possible loss of more revenue from taxes paid by NRG Energy power plant.

No county resident showed up to make comments about the proposed tax rate hike at Monday’s public hearing on the subject. A second hearing is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the county courtroom of the Courthouse, in Groesbeck.

“We seldom have anyone show up at the hearings, and even more seldom have any questions or comments,” County Judge Daniel Burkeen said. “I assume that those who have questions have already gotten their answers through the newspaper stories, asking me, looking at the budget, etc.”
