County to consider reinstating burn ban Monday
By Roxanne McKnight
Limestone County commissioners will consider reinstating the burn ban at their commissioners court meeting Monday.
The court also will hear a presentation from the local historical commission and make decisions on other county business,
including several contracts with local entities.
Though the county has had rain recently, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index indicates that the county is quite dry and still well into drought figures. The Index indicates the amount of moisture in the land by assigning a number from zero to 800, with zero indicating total saturation and 800 indicating no moisture whatsoever.
On press time Friday, the KBDI readings for the county ranged from 405 to 737, with an average of 597. A reading of 575 or higher is considered drought. KBDI’s prediction for two weeks from now is 572-763, with an average for the county of 682.
