Drive-by shooter hits Mexia neighborhood
By Roxanne McKnight
Residents of a Mexia neighborhood were surprised Saturday night by the sound of a volley of gunshots.
The incident happened about 10 p.m. in the 800 block of East Grayson Street, in a house next to the water tower.
“They were home; nobody got hit,” said Mexia Police Chief Richard Hawthorne.
As of press time Monday, the police had made no arrests and had no suspects in the incident.
“The kids had already gone to bed and we were watching TV when all of a sudden we heard a car going really fast and the sound of shots,” said Brenda Gonzalez, who lives a couple of houses away. “We looked out the window but they were already gone.”
