The angelic hosts came for Mr. Emery Ross, 103, at his Teague residence on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, among loving family and devoted friends.
A viewing will be held at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe St. in Teague, on Friday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. until 8.
Funeral services will be held at Gibson Chapel AME Church, LCR 901 in Mexia on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m. with Brother Lamont Ross officiating. Interment will take place at Cotton Gin Cemetery in Mexia.
Mr. Ross was born to Scipio Ross and Beatrice Robinson Ross on Nov. 8, 1909, in Freestone County. Emery accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Gibson Chapel AME Church in Teague. On Jan. 19, 1930, Emery married Areatha Hollie, and seven children were born to this union. Mr. Ross worked as a farmer and was employed by Dallas Radiator Company, and Teague ISD. He enjoyed baseball, attending Texas Rangers games, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son Royell Ross, daughter Eleanor Jones, and sisters Jessie Mae Hollie and Vertie “Brownie” Ross.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Robert Earl Ross and wife Rose, of Fairfield, William Ross and wife Laurine, of Dallas, and Scip Ross and wife Alice, of Dallas; daughters Patricia Bostic and Barbara Heggins, both of Teague; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a special daughter-in-law, Naydne; and other relatives and friends.
