The burn ban remains lifted for Limestone County. Heavy rains over the weekend made the ban a non-issue at Monday’s commissioners court meeting.

Also at the meeting, County Road Engineer Ted Kantor reported that he was now receiving daily status reports from the company the Texas Department of Transportation contracted to build several county bridges. Two TxDOT engineers attended the Sept. 23 commissioners court meeting to explain why the bridges were far past deadline and tell commissioners what the plan was to remedy the delay. Part of the agreement was that Kantor would receive daily reports from TxDOT.

“I’m getting my reports,” Kantor said. “They are making better progress than they were. They’re not doing what they said they would do: They don’t have a full crew at each bridge every day. They’re supposed to be going out and getting another subcontractor to help them. We’re supposed to hear about something this week.”
