Blackcats gear up for start of basketball season

With Mexia football taking a break this week, let’s take a quick peak at the upcoming 2013-14 boy’s basketball season.

Coach Tony Leamon will have a packed lineup this season as all of his starters return from last year’s 20-14 team that finished as an area finalist in the playoffs, falling to Navasota 55-45 in their final game.

Back this season will be seniors Kaylon Watson, Ike Jones, Damian Matthews, LaVictor McKnight, Trey Craig and new additions Trey Barstow and D.J. Johnson.

Watson led the Blackcats in scoring last season averaging 11.8 points per game, followed by Jones with 11.3 ppg.
