With Mexia on a bye week there were only two teams in the area that played last Friday night, the Groesbeck Goats and Wortham Bulldogs.

Groesbeck hosted the No. 6 ranked Fairfield Eagles with the result not a pretty one for the Goats.

The Eagles used a balanced running attack in their powerhouse Larry Rose (10-207-4) and Dominic Brackens (14-122) and led 34-0 at the end of the first quarter on their way to a 55-7 win.

The Eagles improved to 8-0 on the season and 2-0 in District play.
Groesbeck suffered their second straight loss in District 19-3A and fell to 3-5 on the year and 0-2 in district.
