Ladycats still tops in state

The Lady Blackcats maintained their No. 1 ranking in the state last Friday night against Caldwell, beating the Lady Hornets by the score of 59-30.

The reigning Class 3A state champions were led by sophomore point guard Na’tesha Owens, who scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds, dished out 10 assists and had nine steals in the game, picking up where she left off last season.

Kaitlyn Gibson scored 16 points for the Lady Cats, Bremeshia Owens knocked down 11, freshman Soroya Hollie finished with eight points.

Also contributing on the boards and defensively were Jynesha Jackson (9 Reb., 4 steals), Tyesha Johnson (5 Reb., 2 steals) and Hollie (4 Reb., 4 assists and 5 steals). Akasha Anderson grabbed four boards in the Mexia win.
