Belknap home destroyed
Firefighters race to extinguish a blaze around noon yesterday at an unoccupied house on Belknap at Fannin. The old home was boarded up and had been empty for some time, said homeowner Minnie Mack, who inherited the house from her late mother. The fire was discovered by two city workers who saw smoke coming from the wood structure just before noon and called 911. The flames burned nearby trees and bushes and severed a power line running to the house. Mack said neither electricity, nor gas nor any other utility was connected to the home. It is believed no one was in the home when the fire consumed it.
