Commissioners question sheriff on use of OnStar
By Roxanne McKnight
At least one temper appeared to flare at Monday’s Limestone County commissioners court meeting when commissioners questioned Sheriff Dennis Wilson about charging OnStar service to the Sheriff’s Office VISA card.
One of the first items on the agenda of each meeting is to approve payment of bills, and for months, the commissioners have been combing through the bills, questioning any they thought might be excessive or inappropriate for the current tight economic situation.
Commissioners William “Pete” Kirven asked Wilson Monday about an item on the bill for $323.67, which was noted as “OnStar Customer Care.”
Wilson said the charge was for basic satellite phone service for himself and his three commanders, R.T. Beck, Murray Agnew and Capt. Chris Henson and was needed if regular phone service is not available.
