Mildred Calame Hughes
Mildred Calame Hughes, 93, passed away Nov. 25, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia, with Father Carlo Benjamin P. Magnaye, MF, officiating. Interment will follow at Tehuacana Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. and rosary at 7 p.m. at Porter Chapel Wortham.
Mildred was born Aug. 4, 1920 to Ben and Pearl Campbell Calame, lifelong residents of Tehuacana. She attended Tehuacana Elementary School, Mexia High School and Westminister College. She married Harold Hughes on Aug. 11, 1939, and he preceded her in death. Mildred retired from the city of Dallas Water Department in 1976. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia.
She is survived by five sons, Riley Hughes and wife, Karen, Sammy Hughes and wife, Vicki, Ralph Hughes, Harold Hughes and wife Karen and Benny Hughes. She had a total of 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Jay Hughes, Tobin Hughes, Dennis Hughes, Gordon Hughes, Bruce Hughes and Bryan Hughes.
