Mexia coach Tony Leamon was not happy with his team’s play at home against Madisonville, but the sting of an off night for the Blackcats was lessened with a 70-63 win.

The victory helped the Blackcats (11-0) remain undefeated after coming in at number 18 this week in the 3A state rankings.

The ability of his team to pull together and hold on for the win was certainly a silver lining.

“You can’t play every game well, but our kids found a way to win in crunch time,” Leamon said. “We found a way to be successful and compete in a ball game we did not play our best.”
