The No. 18 Mexia Blackcats will join 47 other teams at the 56th Annual Whataburger Basketball Tournament being held Dec. 26-28 in Fort Worth.

Since 1958, the tournament has become a tradition here in Texas and not only attracts teams from all over the state, but teams from across the country.

In 1984, Whataburger became the title sponsor in what has become, according to Sports Illustrated and USA Today, one of the nation’s top five holiday high school tournaments.

The tournament will host three brackets, Orange, Blue Boys and Blue Girls.

The Orange bracket will include teams from Texas, Kentucky and Arkansas, while the Blue Girls bracket will be made up of teams here in the state.
