Nearly 40 years ago, a man from Cotton Gin, just a few miles east of Mexia, had an idea that has grown to become a productive manufacturing company with an international presence.

That man was Mandeville Lide Jr., known simply as Junior Lide, and that company was Lide Tank, later called Lide Industries and now under the Permian Lide banner.

Though Junior Lide passed away in 2008, the company he built to make storage tanks for the oilfield industry is thriving and supports many local employees and their families.

Although the local company is located in Freestone County, it calls itself “Lide Mexia,” and it significantly impacts the city.
