Bonnie Faye Burleson

Funeral services for Bonnie Faye Burleson, 81, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Brother Steve Cowart will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation was held Monday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burleson passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. She was born in Lingleville, on Aug. 15, 1932, the middle child to Morris Cullen and Annie Loyce Sanders King. She married Roy Jack Burleson on Aug. 4, 1949, and shared over 64 years together. Mrs. Burleson owned and operated a day care in Athens for 20 years and later worked as bookkeeper for Burleson Pumping in Mexia. She moved to Teague in 2000 and served as a volunteer at Teague Elementary School for several years. Mrs. Burleson was a very accomplished seamstress and taught her skills to three generations of her family. She was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Jack Burleson of Teague; two daughters, Kathy Thompson and husband Bill of Teague and Connie Phillips and husband Mike of Mexia; one son, Charlie Burleson and wife Gayle of Teague; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Joyce Randolph of Dublin; other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Burleson was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Betty King.
