Leroy Goff has a dream for Mexia, a big dream. If all goes according to plan, Mexia could see a new community center rise on land just north of Mexia High School on Ross Avenue.

Goff has been building a house on the land for about two years basically from scrap, and he and his wife, Evelyn, are living in it temporarily, though the structure is not finished.

Most of their lives, the Goffs lived in Corsicana, but Leroy Goff said he has been preaching in the Mexia area off and on since 1970.

He has pastored at New Hope Baptist Church in Tehuacana, he said, built Rising Star Community Church in Tehuacana, has been affiliated with Haynes Temple COGIC in Mexia and Taylor Church of God in Christ in Wortham.
