Mexia residents will be able to watch child singers and dancers from half a world away perform in Mexia in just 11 days.

The Watoto Children’s Choir, of Uganda, will be in concert at Mexia High School Auditorium Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m.

The performers wear the colorful costumes native to their country and their singing and dancing entranced those attending previous Mexia concerts.

“They gave our community an amazing opportunity to explore a different culture and way of life right here in Mexia,” said Heidi Crosby, a teacher in Mexia who attended the group’s last appearance in Mexia in 2012. “My children were amazed by them also. There was not a boring moment – full of dance, creativity, songs and stories. We loved it.”
