The Blackcats were back in form Friday night as they shot down the Rusk Eagles on the road, 79-32.

Damain Matthews set a school record in the rebounding department, grabbing a career high 20 boards in the game. Teammate LaVictor McKnight held the record up until Friday night’s contest when he pulled down 17 in a game last season. Both Matthews and McKnight led the team in scoring with 16 points each.

Mexia started the game strong using pressure defense and converting turnovers into points and led 20-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Coach Tony Leamon gave the starters a lot of rest and rotated his bench in and out as much as possible through the first three quarters.
