David Fisher Self Jr.

David Fisher Self Jr., 70, of Coolidge, passed away Jan. 21, 2014 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. at the Hubbard Cowboy Church. Interment will follow at Coolidge Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Self was born March 6, 1943 in Houston, to David Fisher and Gladys Elizabeth Tart Self Sr. David Self Jr. was a lifelong farmer and rancher, and retired from the railroad. He also worked for some time in the oil field industry. He was an expert on farm equipment and he could fix it all.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deonica Garza Self and brother, Tommy Lee Self.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Ricardo Salina of Las Vegas, Nev., Dominique Salinas and wife Angela of Denver, Colo., Geraldo Salinas and wife, Tonia of Bakersfield, Calif., David Self and wife, Ginger of Coolidge and Tommy Self of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherri James and husband, Garnett of Katy and Marlene Denby of Houston.

Serving as pallbearers are his five sons and grandson, Anthony Wise. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Noah Salinas and Bo Hunter Self.
