On March 25, 1947, God released Lonzo "202" Anderson, one of his greatest treasures into the earth. He was born to Lugenia (Genie) and Hattie Mae Anderson in Mexia. Lonzo went to be with the Lord on Feb. 10, 2014, at Providence Hospital in Waco.
Lonzo accepted Christ at a young age and united with Jones Chapel Methodist Church in Mexia. He received his education from the Mexia Independent School District, where he was a standout football player. He often stated "202" came from number of tackles he made during his senior year.
After graduating, he and Elise Anderson were united in Holy Matrimony; and to this union, three children were born.
Lonzo was a warrior, father, brother and a friend who always had a joke and laughter to share. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.
To cherish his memory, he leaves three sons: Lonzo Anderson Jr., of Dallas, and Tracy Anderson and Darrell L. Anderson, of Palestine; one sister, Hattie Marie Anderson McGuire, of Dallas; two brothers, Ray Charles Anderson, of Houston, and Billy Gene Anderson, who proceded Lonzo in death; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and caring friends.
