Rubia Dell Abor-Nemons

Rubia Dell Abor-Nemons, also lovingly known as Celeste, passed away Feb. 15, 2014.
She was born Dec. 23, 1937 to the parentage of Cecil Abor Sr. and Alberta Matthews (Sang), in Prairie Hill. Rubia Dell grew up in Mexia and attended Douglass and Dunbar schools and was a member of "The Mighty Dragon" drill and cheer teams. Rubia Dell graduated in 1955 as valedictorian of her class.
Rubia Dell worked several years doing what she loved most, taking care of others. She worked at the McGee Nursing Home as a CNA for several years. She also cared for numerous children in her home for several years. Rubia Dell retired from the Mexia State School Laundry after over 20 years of dedicated service.
Rubia was a dedicated and active Jehovah's Witness.
Rubia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Cecil and Alberta; one son, Michael Abor Sr.; one granddaughter, Torrie Abor; and one great-granddaughter, Patence Abor.
Rubia Dell leaves to cherish sweet memories of love and dedication, her husband of 52 years, Howard L. Nemons; brothers, Ivy Douglas Sr., Arthur Abor and Cecil Abor Jr.; sisters: Berdia O'Neal and Marie Cook; children, Ronnie (Barbara) Abor, Sharron Branch, Vanessa (Vernon) Levingston, Charles (Leta) Nemons and William Gregory Nemons; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
Viewing was Friday from 2 until 7 p.m. at Bethesda Memorial Funeral Home, 318 S. Martin Luther King Hwy. in Mexia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Mexia High School, 1120 N. Ross Ave. in Mexia. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mexia.
