Blackcats fall, ump’s ruling a shock

After making it to the championship a year ago, but forfeiting the final game of the Blooming Grove Baseball Tournament to head down to Austin in support of the Ladycats in the Girls’ State Basketball Championship game, Mexia got another shot on Saturday.
The host Lions had also been waiting a year to play an opponent in the title contest of their tournament, winning this year’s long awaited game by the score of 14-4.
Zack Reece started off on the mound for the Blackcats, keeping his pitches down and looked good through the first couple of innings, giving up only one run on three hits.
The Lions figured out his method in the bottom of the third, scoring six runs in the inning before Jesse Torres took over pitching duties to get the last out.
