Navarro to unveil addition Thursday
By Mike Eddleman
The community is invited Thursday to a grand opening celebration for the new addition to the Navarro College South Campus.
The 8,800-square foot administration building will be open for visitors to tour and learn how the new space will be used.
The college broke ground on the project last June. The centerpiece of the new building is a common area immediately inside the front door. The area will provide more room for studying, eating and gathering, as well as a kitchen with microwaves a refrigerator, sink and vending items.
“Part of our mission is to serve the community and we believe this expansion accomplishes a few major objectives for our district,” said District President Barbara Kavalier. “We felt it was very important to have adequate study space for our students and this is a beautiful space for them to hang out and study.”
Giving students more room to work and enjoy their time on campus is a big plus for new Campus Dean Joel Michaelis.
