Ladycats fall to Lady Eagles

The Ladycats couldn’t seem to catch a break against the Rusk Lady Eagles last Friday night in East Texas. If it wasn’t from the Lady Eagles bats piling on the hits, it was the home plate umpire’s inability to focus more on the game in the field and not what was going on in the Mexia stands.
The umpire ended up tossing a Mexia fan for stating the obvious on a semi-close play where the Rusk player should have been called out by the field umpire, but instead he ruled the girl safe. Early in the game, Cheyenne Thompson was called out returning to first base, but the Lady Eagles first baseman failed to tag her with the ball in the glove, instead she ended up hitting Thompson’s leg with her forearm. The field umpire – who was blocked by Thompson from the contact made – made the call. A brief discussion ensued between the field umpire and home plate ump with the result still in Rusk favor.
