The Blackcats struggled at the plate Tuesday night, no thanks to Rusk Eagle’s pitcher Josh Raiborn, who ended up pitching a 10-0 shutout and held Mexia hitless in the game.
Mexia managed to get only four batters on base via a dropped third strike in the first inning that allowed Case Adair to reach first, D.J. Johnson getting hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third, Blake Lewis reaching first on a walk and Zack Reece getting a base-on-balls in fourth and fifth innings respectively.
Rusk came up with two runs in the top of the first to take a quick lead and added three more in the third to go up 5-0.
The Eagles scored one each in the fourth and fifth and tacked on three in the top of the sixth.
