Mart man convicted in game warden assaults

A man charged with assault after a high-speed chase in the county that injured two game wardens has been convicted of four felonies and will spend decades in prison.
The events began Oct. 4, 2013 on Cottonwood Creek Road near Mart. Two Texas Parks & Wildlife Department game wardens were looking for a man they thought might be Teddie Wayne Davenport, 44, of Mart, when they believed they spotted him with another man in a 2008 Ford pickup towing a utility trailer.
The wardens wanted to talk to Davenport because he was a suspect in a poaching case. They watched as two men pulled up to a home and allegedly began to burglarize it. When they tried to stop the Ford at that location, the pickup rammed their vehicle, then took off down FM 342.
