Rosetta Jackson 'Aunt Rose' Davis
Funeral services for Rosetta Jackson Davis will be held Saturday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 700 I-45 South in Fairfield. Visitation will be held Friday, May 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia, Pastor Lonnie Pelton, officiating; Pastor Willie Anderson, eulogist.
Rosetta was born March 30, 1921 to David Jackson Sr. and Lela Henderson in Freestone County. Rosetta grew up and attended public school in the Furney Richardson Community.
In July 1941, Rose married June Edward Davis and to this union no children were born. They moved to Oakland, Calif. and lived there for more than 60 years. Rosetta was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, in Oakland, Calif., where she served in the usher board and was faithful in service until she moved back to Teague in December 2004.
Rosetta joined Mount Zion Baptist Church in Fairfield in 2005, under the leadership of Rev. E.A. Anderson. She was a dedicated member until her health failed in November 2013.
On May 18, 2014 Rosetta’s earthly life ended at Mexia Long Term Care in Mexia.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents, David Jackson Sr. and Lela Henderson; husband, June Edward Davis; siblings, Mattie, Oscar (Boo), Velma (Lillie J), James Willilams (J.W.) Granville (Grant), Davis Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her nieces, Claudine Gaines and Odessa Mims, and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to Kayla Redic for all your care and compassion.
