Singer Shelton Feazell to perform in Mexia
Mexia News Staff Report
Country singer Shelton Feazell will perform in Mexia this coming Sunday, June 8, in the morning services of Mexia First Presbyterian Church, and in the evening at Mexia First Baptist Church.
Feazell is coming to Mexia at the invitation of Dr. Jim Parker of Trinity Institute in Tehuacana to participate in the Trinity Christian Arts Conference earlier in the week. The singer and his family have a long history with the Mexia area.
“I was born in Brown’s Hospital on Ross Avenue many moons ago,” Feazell said recently. “My mom and dad were students at Westminster College in Tehuacana at the time. We left the area after my dad graduated but returned to Tehuacana in the late ’60s, and I spent several years at Mexia Middle School. We left Tehuacana to move with the college to Mississippi in the summer of 1972. I get to come back to Mexia from time to time for reunions, funerals, etc. I have lived and worked in Nashville for the last 30 years.”
The Feazell family ties extend much further back than his parents, however.
