There will be some new faces along the sidelines for several football teams in District 10-2A DII, District 11-3A DI and District 7-4A DII this coming season with athletic director/head coaching changes taking place. The only district that didn’t see a head coaching change was 14-1A DI, the district in which Coolidge plays in.
In District 10-2A DII, the Frost Polar Bears have replaced Eric Blenden with Steve Burkett. Blenden left to take over the reins at Valley Mills. Burkett has coaching experience at Covington, Arlington Heights, Elysian Fields, Richland and Azle High Schools.
Meridian’s Todd Doughty is out as that school’s AD/Head Coach after posting a 5-6 record in 2013 and leading the Yellowjackets to the first round of the playoffs. His replacement has yet to be named.
Wortham will have a new AD/HC (as reported recently) after hiring Michael Widenor, who is replacing Shane Doege. Doege will be an assistant coach at Groesbeck High School for the 2014-15 season. Widenor was the AD/HC at Claude this past season.
In District 11-3A DI, Kemp, Palestine Westwood and Teague have all made coaching changes.
