Mexia headed to state 7-on-7 tourney

For the second straight year the Mexia Blackcats 7-on-7 team will make an appearance in the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament, which is being held this Thursday and Friday at College Station. A total of 64 teams will compete for the coveted summertime football championship trophy.
Mexia will be playing in Division II, Pool G, against Burnet, Kinkaid and Palmer.
The Blackcats will play three pool games with the first against Palmer at 1 p.m. on Field 7B at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex.
At 3 p.m., they will compete against Burnet on Field 7A and at 5 p.m. it’s back to Field 7B to face Kinkaid.
The top two teams out of each pool will advance to the championship round beginning Friday morning. The remaining teams from each pool will play in the consolation bracket, which will also be held that morning.
