Emmie Jean Wardell

Emmie Jean Wardell, 66, of Dawson, passed away July 22, 2014 in Mexia, leaving behind her husband, Bert F. Wardell Jr., many cousins and friends.
Graveside services are 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, at the Rice Cemetery in Rice. A Mass will follow at 2 p.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church, 508 E. Commerce in Mexia. 
Emmie was born Jan. 16, 1948 in Corsicana, to Albert Melton Emmert Jr. and Lee Ila Burks Emmert. After graduating from Corsicana High School, she received her LVN degree from Navarro College.  She worked for the Mexia hospital for many years.
Emmie married Bert F. Wardell Jr. on Nov. 16, 1974. She was a longtime member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Mexia. Emmie’s legacy for being very loving, caring and dedicated will be remembered by her family, friends and the many people she served.  
She was preceded in death by her parents, fondly referred to as Aunt Bill and Uncle Melton, and brother, Charles Emmert
Emmie is survived by her husband, Bert F. Wardell Jr. of Dawson; a number of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Christ Episcopal Church Choir.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union High Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Leonard Mixon, 10000 FM 638, Dawson, TX 76639.
