Clara Smith Horace

Clara Smith Horace died Oct. 29, 2014.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia. Visitation will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Pearly Gates Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Mexia, with eulogist Shaun Rabb.
Clara Smith Horace was born Dec. 16, 1932 in Streetman, to Iree Smith and Ocilean Cooper. She professed a faith in Christ and later united with True Vine Church in Dallas, under the leadership of Pastor J.J. Adams, and later serving under Pastor Shaun Rabb.
She joined in Holy Matrimony with Jimmie Lee Horace in October 1974.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Katherine Castile Bonner and Alice Faye Woods; three brothers, Iree (Zeke) Smith, Lawrence (Redman) Smith and Robert Earl Smith; and one stepson, Roy Thomas Horace.

Wanda La Nell Clendenen Sterling

Wanda La Nell Clendenen Sterling, 74, of Reno, Texas, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 in Legend Healthcare, where she had resided the last four years.
She was born Feb. 6, 1944 in Mexia, a daughter of J.B. Clendenen and Eunice Naomi Carter Clendenen. Wanda worked for Dallas County in the elections department and was a member of Calvary Assembly of God.
On Nov. 28, 1968, she married Murvin Sterling in Mexia. He preceded her in death.
Wanda is survived by her sister, Shirley Jean Plunk and husband, Claude Plunk; niece, Michella Burkhart and husband David; nephew, Christopher Plunk; great-niece, Kimberly Sandovall and husband, Tim; great-nephews Joshua Burkhart and wife, Lindsey, and Denson Plunk; and great-great-nephew, Madison Sandovall.

Funeral services for Paul Glenn Willis will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Pearly Gates Funeral Home in Mexia, with eulogist Pastor Fitzgerald Thomas.
Paul Glenn Willis Sr. was born June 12, 1940 in Limestone County, to the parentage of Homer Willis and Hattie Thomas. He accepted Christ at an early age. He attended public school in Limestone County. He worked in construction most his life.
Willis was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cedric "Red" Willis; and sister, Pat Moore.

Nora Elia Amaya

Nora Elia Amaya, 47, of Mexia, passed away Oct. 30, 2014 from injuries received in an auto accident. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Justin Ngugen officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.
Visitation and Rosary will be 6 p.m. Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Chapel.
Nora was born April 11, 1967 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to Jose Federico Torres and Maria Louisa Rodriquez. She was employed by Carry-On Trailer Corporation.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Nora was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe St. in Teague, and also from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 405 S. Belknap in Mexia. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at Northcrest Church of Christ, 918 N. Hwy. 171 in Mexia. Rev. Robert Campbell, pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Mexia, will officiate. Interment will follow at Grove Island Cemetery in Teague.
Lillian was the fifth child of Mitt and Lillie Kelley Lampkin, and was born Dec. 14, 1914 in Streetman.

A viewing will be held Friday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe St. of Teague. Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 1, at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home Chapel, and interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery in Wortham.
Annie Dora Carter was born Sept. 23, 1927 in Kirvin, to Charlie Carter and Dora (Morgan) Carter. She was the ninth of 10 children born to this union. As a child she attended F.W. Wheeler Public School.
Ann, as she is best known, married Phelix Lucas of Bryan and moved to Fort Worth. After their divorce she returned to Mexia, where she took care of her mother until her mother’s death.

Jerry Don Huckaby

Jerry Don Huckaby, 69, of Coolidge, passed away Oct. 26, 2014 at his residence. Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. at Coolidge cemetery.
Huckaby was born Oct. 31, 1944 in Teague, to William Boyd Huckaby Sr. and Elieta Joyce Hall. He was a resident of Coolidge for several years and was in the construction business.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe Huckaby and Dale Huckaby.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Medlock, Linda Writt and Marcus Shelton; sisters, Joyce Ann Love and Gayle Huckaby; brothers, Billy Huckaby and Mike Huckaby; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Doris Lunelle Freeman, 84, of Mexia, passed away Oct. 27, 2014 in Groesbeck. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Forest Glade Baptist Church with Pastor Gil Ash officiating. Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Doris was born Aug. 2, 1930 in Currie, in Navarro County, to Harvey S. and Ova Alice Burriss Brooks. She lived in Limestone County most of her life and was a graduate of Coolidge High School. Doris began her working career at the Forest Glade School. After it closed, she transferred to the Mexia ISD Food Service Department where she retired after many years of devoted service.
