Charles Ingram

Multi-talented Charles wrote several books, including two Westerns, “Passing Shadows” and “Trail to Phantom Hill.”
In his autobiography, “A Joyous Journey,” Charles stated, “I have been most fortunate in my life's journey to have had the privilege of being a citizen of this great country, the USA, and to reside in the wonderful state of Texas.”
The story of Charlie's life begins with his father, Charles Ingram Sr., returning from World War I and hearing of “Black Gold” in Texas. So he left Arkansas for Ranger, where Charles Ingram Jr. was born on Aug. 9, 1921.
The oil boom began to wane in Ranger so little Charlie's family moved to a boomtown in Central Texas called Mexia, when he was 2. Charles Sr. managed, then owned, an electric shop there.
