Robert Dalton Carter, 83, of Mexia passed away August 8, 2009. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel. Rev. Rick Gray will officiate with interment to follow in the Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
Robert was born December 30, 1925 in Tehuacana, Texas to Carson T. and Lillian Clementine Hodges Carter. He was a lifelong resident of Limestone County. Robert retired from Phillips Petroleum as a Boiler Operator after 20 years. He served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army. Robert had a zest for life, anyone who met him wasn’t likely to forget him. He loved people. Robert enjoyed fishing as often as possible. However, there was nothing any more important to him than being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eunice Clendenen and Jessie Bea Ward; and brother, Conrad Carter.
Robert is survived by his wife, Doris Vest Carter of Mexia; son, Robert D. Carter, Jr. and wife, Sandra of Mexia; daughter, Regina Turner and husband, Jerry of Mt. Calm; grandchildren, Robert D. Carter, III. and wife, Beverly of Mexia, Steve Hogan and wife, Ellen of Mexia, Stacey Hogan and wife, Jennifer of Malone, Joe Leago and wife, Vanessa of Mexia, John Leago and wife, Debbie of Mexia and Jerry R. Turner, Jr. of Mt. Calm; great-grandchildren, Judd Martin and Hunter Michael Carter, Kate Elizabeth, Natalie Lynn, Mallorie Michelle and Nicholas Stephen Hogan, Summer Dawn and Ashley Renee Turner, Ashelee Nicole and Aimee Renee Owens, Thomas and Christi Leago and Sarah and Stacy Masters; great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ayden Leago ; and sister, Annie Pearl Williamson of Seguin.
Pallbearers will be Robert D. Carter, III., Steve Hogan, Stacey Hogan, Jamie Carter, Ronnie Maiden, Mark Vest, Jackie Reynolds and Joe Leago. Honorary pallbearers will be his Coffee Buddies at McDonalds.
David Wayne Stanley
David Wayne Stanley, 54, of Tehuacana, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Services were held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church of God. Pastor James Rincker officiated and interment followed at Tehuacana Cemetery. Family visitation was held on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
David was born on December 20, 1954 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Everett A.G. and Joan Mary Butler Stanley. He worked formerly at Lide Industries as a Quality Control Manager.
David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deborah Tewell and father-in-law, Gerald Steven Todd, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Rebecca Stanley of Tehuacana; daughters, Candace Chappell & husband, Willie of Mexia, Andrea Lopez & husband, Dallas of Mexia, Shana Stanley of Mexia and Candice Thigpen & husband, Scott of Port Lavaca, Texas; Grandchildren, April & Amy Price, Erynn Lopez, Devon & Atiyana Strain and Justin & Alyssa Thigpen; brothers, Robert Stanley & wife, Debbie of Huffman, Texas, Ricky Stanley & wife, Connie of Santa Fe, Texas and Alton Stanley & wife, Nora of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; sisters, Donna Hood of Rogers, Arkansas and Kim Mann & husband, Harry of Rogers, Arkansas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Serving as pallbearers were, Ronald McClatchy, Dallas Lopez, Willie Chappell, James Todd, Charles Todd, Michael Tabers, John Ellis and Robert Darden.

Calvin Norris Greely, Jr.

Mr. Greely passed away at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Waco, TX among loving family and friends.
Viewing and visitation was held Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home with the family present. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Rodeo Arena of the Wharton County Fairground, FM 961, Wharton, TX. Rev. Tommy Phillips and Rev Allen Branch will officiate. Interment will be in the Pin Oak Community Cemetery.
Mr. Greely learned to ride horses in the pastures with his father at the age of 3. He won his first roping contest at age 14 with a prize of $35.00. He was known nationally and internationally throughout the Rodeo World as a great roper, teacher, and mentor. He has trained, ridden, and owned great roping horses and steer dogging horses. He held membership in: Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, The International Rodeo Association, Southwest Cowboy Association, Senior Pro Rodeo Association, United States Calf Roping Association, National Old Timers Rodeo Association, National Cowboys Of Color and The Bill Bickett Invitational Rodeo Association. He was a 2009 Nominee for The National Cowboy Of Color Hall Of Fame.
