'Sportsman' moving to Groesbeck

GROESBECK - The Sportsman Restaurant, located for a while in downtown Mexia, recently closed it doors, with the idea of setting up shot in Groesbeck.
Ty and Lisa Woodall, owners, will appear before the Groesbeck City Council at its meeting this evening at 6 o’clock to request action by the Council concerning adequate parking space for their restaurant.
In other action at the meeting, set for City Hall, 402 West Navasota Street, the Council will consider action to set the date, time and site for a meeting to vote on the 2009 tax rate; accept the resignation of a City Council member, schedule the annual audit for fiscal-year 2008-2009, and conduct a public hearing for setting the 2009 city-proposed tax rate at $0.6204 per $100 valuation.
Other agenda items include approval of a resolution to make application for a Texas Community Development Block Grant Program which would provide $350,000 in disaster relief funds to make repairs to the city’s water supply resources.
The City Council is also due to enter into an agreement with the American Municipal Services for collection of delinquent accounts for the City of Groesbeck and for the Maffett Memorial Library.
In advance of the called meeting, Councilpersons are to conduct a work session for interviewing prospective candidates for the vacant City Council seat.
