    Bennie Louis Spillers, 80, of Mexia passed away September 17, 2009 at his home in Mexia.  Funeral services will be 10 AM Monday, September 21, 2009 at Blair-Stubbs Chapel.  Interment will be in the Mexia Cemetery.
    Visitation with the family will be 4-6 PM Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.
    Bennie was born August 10, 1929 in Mexia, Texas to Paris and Myrtle Warren Spillers.
He has lived in Mexia his entire life.  Bennie worked for many years in the oil fields before going to work at the Mexia State School, where he retired.  He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart.  As a young man, he enjoyed fishing and later, became an avid gardener.  Bennie was a very devoted and loving father and grandfather.  He was a member of Tehuacana Baptist Church.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Brand Spillers; four brothers, Roy, Ray, Don and Max Spillers; and one sister, Helen Spillers Seale.
    Bennie is survived by a daughter, Dianne Gregory and husband, Donnie of Montana; one son, Robbie Spillers and wife, Kathy of Mexia; grandchildren, Erin, Crystal, Jessica, Joshua, Stevie, Tanya, Brandi, Greg and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Blake, Alana, Cameron, Addison, Mila, Hunter and Sky; two sister-in-laws, Johnnie Spillers of Mexia and Ann Spillers of California.
    Pallbearers will be Kelly Craig, Todd Craig, Billie Reese Seale, Charles Spillers, Larry Spillers and Scott Moore.  Honorary pallbearers will be C. D. York, David Dolen, John Stevens and Carlton Hatcher.
