Mrs. Bertha Washington, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Goodshepherd Hospital, Longview, Texas among loving family and devoted friends. 
    Viewing and visitation will begin Friday, October 23, 2009 from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will  be held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Faith Temple Church Of God In Christ, N Hwy 75, Fairfield, Texas, Rev. P.A. Rischer, Pastor.  Elder Tas Betts will officiate, and interment will be in the Rhode Island Cemetery in Fairfield. 
    Mrs. Washington was born Bertha Mae Zimmerman to the late Jimmy Zimmerman and Martha Green Zimmerman in Freestone County.  She attended the public schools there and worked as a housekeeper for families in Fairfield.  Mrs. Washington was a member of the Hemphill Temple Church Of God In Christ of Fairfield. 
    Surviving Mrs. Washington are:  Her children: Ezell Washington and Edell Washington and his wife, Cheryl, all of Ft. Worth; Charles Washington, Fairfield, Texas; and Beverly Rider and husband, Albert of Gladewater, TX; 14 Grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
