Parkview Obstetrics closes, but Prenatal Clinic opens

It was announced last week that Parkview Regional Hospital will discontinue obstetric (labor and delivery) services on Friday, Nov. 13, at midnight, according to Jimmy Stuart, Chief Executive Officer. In a move designed to continue offering ladies a choice in their healthcare services, providers at the Palestine Prenatal Clinic will begin seeing patients on Monday, Nov. 16.
This key step in the transition includes a clinic operated by Palestine Regional Medical Center located in the Parkview Medical Building in Mexia. Ladies will have the option of completing quality prenatal care locally and delivering their babies at Palestine Regional Medical Center with their choice of obstetric physicians.
“It is with regret that we made the decision to close OB services. Declines in deliveries, increasing demands on resources and difficulty in recruiting and retaining OB medical staff led us to the decision,” said Stuart. “We are looking forward to the addition of the Palestine Prenatal Clinic here in Mexia so that patients can feel confident that their needs will be met.”
The Palestine Prenatal Clinic will begin taking appointments on Monday, Nov. 16. For more information, please call (254)562-0408, ext 1110.
