Council talking CM position
The Mexia City Council has been comprised of a busy bunch lately, interviewing and narrowing down its list of candidates for the City Manager position, a person who will succeed Carolyn Martin, to retire later in January of next year.
The City Council will meet again for more City Manager (CM) discussion Monday afternoon at 5:30 in the Municipal Courtroom on North Sherman.
Court called off
Prospective jurors told to report to 77th District Court on Monday morning, need not report, according to District Clerk Carol Jenkins’ office. Nothing due to happen that morning.
Mexia ISD board meets Monday
A called meeting is scheduled for Monday night at 6 o’clock in the schools’ Administration Building, 616 North Red River. Most of the time will be spent in executive session to discuss several items.
Books galore at Caritas!!!
The Teague Library has donated hundreds of books to Caritas of Mexia, where they are being sold for 50 cents each. Bill BROWN, a member of the Caritas board of directors, reminds that Caritas is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Pt. Enterprise soup time!!
The public is invited to “join us” for homemade soup, cornbread and dessert this evening from 5 until 7 o’clock, reminds Helen Matthews. Live entertainment will be provided. Donations will be accepted and used to maintain the community center, reminds Helen. “The Clubhouse” is where the Saturday meal will be served.
Appreciation service set
God’s House of Deliverance Church, 530 West Hopkins, will have an appreciation service for its pastor, Elder Katie L. Simmons, this Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Everyone is invited to attend and fellowship.
Wortham ISD eyes growth
WORTHAM - The Wortham School Board is to again meet Monday night at 6:30 in the high school library for a workshop, set up for trustees and Administrators to plan for District facilities.
Teague church sets annual choir program
TEAGUE - First Missionary Baptist Church-South Teague, 400 J.A. Brooks Avenue, will welcome Joyful Noise Choir for the annual program honoring choirs this Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, announces the pastor, the Rev. C.J. Wiley. Guest soloist will be Debra Porter, co-pastor of Unlimited Praise Church of Mexia. Dinner will be served following the program.
