Mattie Allen Chambers Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Allen Chambers, 91, of 408 West Bowie Street-Mexia, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at Union Baptist Church in Mexia. The Rev. Mack Walker and the Rev. Elizabeth Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Wortham Cemetery, with nephews and friends of the family serving as pallbearers. Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Chamber was born in Freestone County on Jan. 16, 1918. She died on Dec. 22, in Limestone County. She was a member and usher at Union Baptist Church and had been employed as a Resident Trainer at Mexia State School.
Surviving are three sisters: Ester L. Green of Corsicana, Malilda Tippens of Butler and Julia Hillis of Dallas; a brother, Leroy Allen of Dallas, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Her special friends were Annie Calhoun, Maxine Spivey and Mary Chatham.
