Emory C. Martin Obituary

Emory Claire Martin, 76, of Mexia, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 2, in McKinney after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Fairview, Okla., to Claire Orlee and Jessie Mae (Brooks). He is survived by four daughters, 11 grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters and six nieces and nephews.
His daughters are Tomorrow Howell and her husband Jeff of McKinney, Yestrada Watkins and her husband Bobby of Celina, Tada Wisener and her husband James of McKinney and Jessica "Squeaky" Kennedy of Mineola. His sisters are Elsie Pharis of Wichita, Kansas, and Myrtle Holladay of Fairview.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claire and Jessie; his wife, Viona Martin of Mexia; one brother, Carroll Orlee Martin of Oakland, Calif., and one sister, Melva Hyer of Fairview.
Mr. Martin graduated from Fairview High School in 1951. He loved sports and lettered in football, basketball and track. After serving four years in the Air Force, he attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a master;s degree in industrial engineering, graduating with honors.
His professional career included a variety of engineering, sales and management positions with DuPont, Texas Instruments, National Chemsearch and International Magnetics. He worked at Limestone County Transit until his recent illness.
Mr. Martin loved to have a good time and was an accomplished practical joker. He also enjoyed playing cards, classic movies and fishing.
An avid sports fan, he closely followed the Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A private family remembrance is planned.
